History
Dupont Cheese Inc. has been owned and operated by the Laack Family since 1970. We specialize in longhorns and of course our fresh squeaky cheese curds. Dupont Cheese is located in central Wisconsin, Waupaca County in the township of Dupont. We are located 5 miles south of Marion and 7 miles west of Clintonville at the corner of State Road 110 and County Rd C. Fred Laack is the president and is passionate about cheese making and takes great pride in his cheeses.
Dupont Cheese has been in operations just shy of 55 years, but the tradition of cheese making goes back a lot further. Fred is the youngest of brothers to make cheese and the son of cheese maker, Harry Laack, but the rich tradition goes back to his grandfather Leon’s days making cheese in Greenleaf, WI. Fred Laack and his son, Jon own and operate Dupont Cheese Inc. and are joined by Jon’s son, Trevor.
In 1970, Fred & Ann Laack purchased Dupont Cheese Factory in Marion WI that first made cheese in 1910. At that time the plant had three conventional vats with about 35,000 pounds of milk a day. Today we run about 170,000 pounds of milk and can go up to 200,000 pounds when things get busy. We’re making six days a week about five vats a day. We make approximately 17,000 pounds of cheese a day on the average. We have a wonderful relationship with all our dairy farmers. All are within a 20 mile radius of our cheese factory and we’ve known most of them for years.
We manufacture, cut, wrap, and ship our own cheeses from Dupont Cheese Inc.; therefore, you can be completely confident that your cheese order will be the freshest available anywhere.
